Jochen H. Schiller (born September 30, 1967 in Pforzheim ) is a German computer scientist and has headed the computer systems and telematics working group at the Institute for Computer Science at the Free University of Berlin since 2001 .

Life

Jochen Schiller studied computer science at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) , where he also received his doctorate in 1996. He then went to Uppsala University for a research stay . There he taught at the Institute for Information Technology and conducted research within the framework of several company collaborations. After a visiting professorship at ETS Montreal, Canada and the University of Kiel , Schiller completed his habilitation.

Since April 2001 he has been Professor of Technical Computer Science at the Free University of Berlin. From 2002 to 2003 Schiller was Deputy Managing Director of the Institute for Computer Science, from April 2003 to March 2007 Dean of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. From 2007 to 2010 Schiller was Vice President of the Free University of Berlin.

Services

His main research areas are wireless, mobile and embedded systems, communication protocols, operating systems for microcomputers and quality of service aspects in communication systems. Schiller has published five books and 120 international articles on conferences and journals.

Schiller has been awarded the prize for the best teaching by students seven times . He founded the company ScatterWeb GmbH.
