Jochen Schrumpf (* 1952 in Dortmund ) is a guitarist and jazz musician from Dortmund.

Career

Since 1972 he has appeared in a wide variety of ensembles and bands at home and abroad and has played on 50 CDs and LPs. His core project, the ten-year quartet "Jochen Schrumpf Electric Groove", plays groove-oriented fusion jazz.

He headed the Glen Buschmann Jazz Academy from 1996 to 2018 and the Pop School of the Dortmund Music School from 2008 to 2018.

Trivia

In 1999, in downtown Dortmund, Schrumpf was confused with Dieter Zurwehme, who was then on the run, and arrested by a special police unit .

As successor to Jochen Schrumpf for the management of the Jazz Academy and the Pop School, Martin Peitz, a graduate of the Jazz Academy and a former student of Schrumpf, was introduced in 2019.
