Jodie Sands
Jodie Sands (also Jodi Sands) (* in Philadelphia , real name Eleanor DiSipio) is an American pop singer who released records in the 1950s and 1960s. Her greatest success was in 1957 with the title With All My Heart , which reached number 15 on the US charts .
Musical career
Jodie Sands, like Frankie Avalon , Chubby Checker and Bobby Rydell, is part of the Philadelphia pop scene. In 1955 she released her first records on the Teen Records label. In 1957 it was taken over by the newly founded company Chancellor Records , which specifically took on the promotion of performers from the Philadelphia area.
With her first track With All My Heart (catalog number 1003), published by Chancellor, written by Chancellor owners Bob Marcucci and Peter DeAngelis , she had the greatest record success of her career. On June 10, 1957, the song entered the Billboard Top 100 at number 45 and finally reached its best position in July with position 15. In the same year, Sands played a role in the film Jamboree . Sands achieved international success in 1958 with the title Someday . While it was only at number 95 in the US, it reached position 14 in Great Britain, where their records were distributed by His Master's Voice , and was in the charts for ten weeks. Someday was Sand's last record on Chancellor.
In 1959 she moved to the Nashville record company Thor, which brought out two singles with her. Also with the Dallas label Paris only two Sands singles were released. Your last recordings come from the record company ABC Records , there are three singles from 1962 and 1963. All the publications mentioned were unsuccessful. In May 1997 the Marginal record company released the CD album Very Best of Jodie Sands , which contains several of their single recordings.
