Joe Cassar

Joseph "Joe" Cassar (born May 19, 1966 ) is a Maltese politician with the Nationalist Party and Parliamentary State Secretary.

biography

Joe Cassar graduated after school education at St. Aloysius' College in Birkirkara studying medicine at the University of Malta , which he in 1990 with the promotion to Doctor of Medicine (MD) graduated. He then trained as a specialist in psychiatry and worked as such at Yale University in New Haven (Connecticut) . Later, he worked for several years consultants of the Maltese health authorities and at the same time as a lecturer lecturer at the University of Malta. Throughout his student and professional career, he was President of the Malta Medical Students Association, Executive Member of the Medical Association of Malta, and President of the Psychiatric Association of Yale University. In addition, Dr. Cassar is an active member of Pax Romana ICMICA (International Catholic Movement for Intellectual and Cultural Affairs). As a psychiatrist, he has also published a number of specialist psychiatric articles.

Dr. Cassar began his political career in 2004 when he was first elected as a candidate for the Partit Nazzjonalista (Nationalist Party) as a member of the House of Representatives, replacing Joseph Bonnici . As a member of parliament, he spoke about the investigation into the enormous cost overrun in the construction of the Mater Dei Hospital in Msida . In 2008 he was re-elected as a member of constituency 11 .

After the Partit Nazzjonalista won the parliamentary elections in Malta in 2008 , Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi appointed him Parliamentary State Secretary for Health in the Office of Social Affairs Minister John Dalli on March 12, 2008 and also advises the Minister of Social Affairs on issues relating to vacancies in state hospitals.
