Joe Montgomery is an American rockabilly musician.

Life

Joe Montgomery is from Cleveland , Tennessee . He started his career in Texas . Shortly thereafter, Montgomery moved to Tucson , Arizona . There he worked for an airline. In his spare time he went to Phoenix to make some recordings in Floyd Cramer's studio. Cramer passed the title Cool Cat on to Fabor Robinson, owner of Abbott Records , who released it. Robinson proposed to Montgomery to come to the west coast . There he worked in the recording studios alongside his job. Nevertheless, there was no success. Disappointed, Montgomery went back to Arizona, where he got the chance to do more recordings with Al Casey in 1957 . After the Jamie Records rejected the pieces, they were released by Liberty Bell. A short time later they were released nationwide by the Mercury Records . However, the breakthrough did not materialize. After touring Nevada , Montgomery continued to record, without success.

He was musically active until the 1980s, after which he retired to Austin , Texas .
