Joey Ambrose

Joey Ambrose (born Joseph d'Ambrosio on March 23, 1934 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American saxophonist .

Joey Ambrose was a saxophonist for Bill Haley ’s Comets between 1954 and 1955 . He played the saxophone on the world hit Rock Around the Clock . From 1955 to 1959 he was a member of The Jodimars with Marshall Lytle and Dick Richards . After the dissolution of the Jodimars, he worked at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas .

In 1987 Ambrose re-founded Bill Haley's Original Comets with former Comets members Johnny Grande , Franny Beecher , Dick Richards and Marshall Lytle , recorded new albums and to this day has occasionally toured with the band.
