Joseph "Joey" O'Brien (born February 17, 1986 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player .

Career

The Irishman joined the Bolton Wanderers first team in 2004 . After making the leap into the squad, he switched to Sheffield Wednesday on loan - in order to gain match practice . From 2004 to 2005 O'Brien came on a total of 15 missions for the Owls. He scored two goals. After returning to Bolton , he made his Premier League debut against Everton in May 2005. He made his international debut for the Trotters against Lokomotive Plovdiv in the first UEFA Cup round. O'Brien has played once for the Irish national football team .

In March 2011 O'Brien was awarded again to Sheffield Wednesday, he received a contract there until the end of the season. After this loan deal, his contract with the Bolton Wanderers was not extended.

On July 30, 2011, Joey O'Brien moved to the Premier League relegated West Ham United .
