Johan II van Arkel

Johan II. Van Arkel (* around 1010 in IJsselmonde ; † January 7, 1077 ) from the first house of Arkel was (fief) army of the Landes van Arkel , from Heukelom and Polsbroek .

He was the son of Johan I. van Arkel and Elisabeth van Cuyk (around 1010 - around 1030), daughter of Willem van Cuyk. Johan II married Margaretha van Altena. During his rule over the Land van Arkel, Johan II had the churches of Spijk and Dalem built. In 1076 he went together with Robert the Friesian and his son-in-law Dietrich V. van Holland to fight against Bishop Konrad of Utrecht and helped with the siege of IJsselmonde Castle. Johan II may have died in the battle of IJsselmonde .
