Johan Peter Noack

Johan Peter Noack (* 1943 ) is a Danish historian and was the chief archivist ( rigsarkivar ) of Rigsarkiv from 1992 to 2009 .

His father was the theologian Bent Noack (1915-2004), his mother Margrethe Hørlück (1914-1969). After completing his studies, Noack was a lecturer in the history of North and South Schleswig and the Soviet Union . His doctoral thesis, Det danske mindretal i Sydslesvig 1920-45 , completed in 1989 , dealt with the Danish-speaking minority in southern Schleswig . From 1987 he was head of the Institut for Grænseregionsforskning (German Institute for Border Region Research ) in Aabenraa . Five years later he became rigsarkivar .
