Johan Vandewalle

Johan Vandewalle (born February 15, 1960 in Bruges ) is a Belgian orientalist . He is considered a language genius. He is a trained architect , orientalist, Slavist and linguist .

Life

Vandewalle studied at the University of Ghent , where he obtained a master's degree in engineering in 1983 and a licentiate in oriental languages ​​and cultures in 1985 . 1986 followed a licentiate in general linguistics . He works as an orientalist at the University of Ghent and runs his own association for translations, advice on foreign cultures and language teaching called Orientaal vzw in Aalst .

In 1987 Vandewalle is said to have mastered 31 languages. In a 1987 competition "Polyglot van Vlaanderen / Babelprijs" announced by the Provinciaal Centrum voor Moderne Talen from Hasselt , he was able to speak 22 languages. In 1990 the Turkish Education Center Türkçe Öğretim Merkezi (TÖMER) awarded him the Türkçe Öğretimi Başarı Ödülü Prize for his research on a didactic method for teaching Turkish and for his efforts to organize Turkish courses in Belgium.

Vandewalle is married and has two children.
