Johann Bischoff (media scientist)

Johann Bischoff (* 1951 ) is a German media scientist , media pedagogue / media didactic and university professor at the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences .

Life

Johann Bischoff completed his academic training at the University of Oldenburg with Wolfgang Schulenberg and Hans-Dietrich Raapke in humanities education. Before that he studied at the Academy for Sales Management in Hanover and graduated in 1974 as a state-certified communications specialist. In 1976 he graduated from the Bremen University of Art and Music with a degree in design. In 1981 he graduated from the University of Oldenburg with a degree in education, where he received his doctorate in philosophy in 1990. He studied education with Hans-Dietrich Raapke and "Communication / Aesthetics" with J. Thiele.

Bischoff worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the Carl von Ossietzky University in the “Communication / Aesthetics” department, with the right to examinations for art educator teacher training. In 1990 he received a visiting professorship at the University of Fine Arts in Dresden, where he institutionalized the "Visual Communication" department. In 1993 he was appointed professor for “Aesthetics and Communication” at the University of Merseburg, for the subject area “Media Studies and Applied Aesthetics”. He is the Dean of Studies there and represents the subject area of ​​media studies and applied aesthetics.

Bischoff initiated artistic and educational projects in Bremen, Oldenburg, Dresden and Merseburg ( Bread for the World , Open Channel / Citizens' Media, School Cultural Work) and wrote publications, magazines and books on the visual arts on television, media education, cultural education and media didactics. He is also the initiator of the 1996 diploma course "Culture and Media Education" (KMP) at the former Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg . In 2005, as dean of studies, he developed the BA course in cultural and media education and an MA in applied media and cultural studies. Several publications and specialist conferences on the job profile of cultural educators in Germany were created.

In addition, Bischoff realized film productions for teaching at the University of Oldenburg, the University of Fine Arts in Dresden and the University of Merseburg.
