Johann Christian Bach Academy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Johann Christian Bach Academy was a Cologne orchestra founded in 1991 that played historical instruments. The artistic directors were the Cologne professor of baroque violin Ingeborg Scheerer and the organist Johannes Geffert . All members had years of experience in top German and European ensembles. The Johann Christian Bach Academy maintained both the repertoire that is firmly anchored in concert operations and the re-performance of rarely performed or forgotten works. At the beginning of 2007, the Johann Christian Bach Academy dissolved. The dissolution was accompanied by the re-establishment of the Concerto con Anima ensemble , which would like to increasingly open up to music beyond the baroque repertoire, once again artistically directed by Ingeborg Scheerer.
