Johann Christoph von Ponickau

Johann Christoph von Ponickau (* March 21, 1652 - † October 31, 1726 in Pomßen ) was the royal Polish and electoral Saxon council, chamberlain and governor of the Wurzen collegiate monastery . He owned numerous goods, including a. the castle and manor Pomßen near Leipzig.

On February 6, 1727, a funeral service for Johann Christoph von Ponickau took place in the fortified church in Pomßen . For it was Johann Sebastian Bach , the cantata "I will not let you, unless you bless me" ( BWV 157) is written to which the deceased had chosen the text was still alive.

Ponickau was married to Eleonora Elisabeth von Bernstein. One daughter, Johanne Eleonore Caroline, married the deposed Oberhofmarschall Friedrich Carl von Pöllnitz on December 14, 1727 in Altenburg .
