Wilhelm Salomon Freund (born September 28, 1831 in Schmiegel ; died August 26, 1915 in Breslau ) was a German lawyer, head of the city ​​council , member of the state parliament and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Freund studied law in Wroclaw and worked there as a lawyer since 1856. In 1871 he was elected to the city council and from 1887 until his death he was the city council chief. He was elected to the Silesian Bar Association and was its chairman for 30 years from 1884. He was an honorary citizen of the city of Wroclaw and an honorary doctorate from the law faculty.

He was also a member of the Silesian Provincial Parliament (he was elected to the Landtag in 1877) and from 1876 to 1879 a member of the Prussian House of Representatives . On February 21, 1879 he was elected in a by-election for the late MP Heinrich Bürgers in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Breslau 7 (Breslau western part) and the German Progressive Party. He remained its member until the end of the legislative period in 1881. Freund worked there on the lawyers 'code and the lawyers' fees as chairman of the relevant committees.

His son, the Münster pharmacologist Hermann Freund , was a victim of the Holocaust , the sons Walther and Rudolf were able to flee.
