Johann Eduard Wolff (* 1786 in Königsberg , † 1868 in Berlin ) was a German history and portrait painter .

Life

From 1800 Wolff was a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and Mechanical Sciences in Berlin, in 1804 he took part in the Berlin Academy Exhibition. 1805–1816 he was a student in the teaching ateliers of Jacques-Louis David and Antoine-Jean Gros in Paris. He also studied at the École des beaux-arts . In 1816 he returned to Berlin, where from 1819 he was a member of the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts . From 1816 to 1848 he regularly took part in the Berlin Academy Exhibition. From 1838 Wolff was a drawing teacher at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts, and in 1841 he was appointed professor.
