Johann Fischer (politician, 1895)

Johann Fischer (born March 1, 1895 in Norderney ; † February 21, 1983 in Norden , East Friesland) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Fischer first attended elementary school and then began an apprenticeship as a book printer. In his profession he worked until 1928 and then switched to the cooperative system as a commercial clerk . In 1913, Fischer organized a union . As a trade union official, he was an honorary judge at various arbitration chambers and at the labor court. In the First World War he was a member of the navy from 1914 to 1918.

In 1918 he joined the SPD and was a member of the city parliament in Norden since 1926. After the seizure of power in 1933 , he was dismissed from office for political reasons . After 1933 he was politically persecuted and served two years in prison. After the war he was the cooperative managing director between 1945 and 1949. He became a co-owner of a book printing company and had been a member of the city council in Norden since 1945. He was also a member of the district council in the north. Between 1945 and 1949 he was elected mayor of the city of Norden. After his tenure as mayor, he became district administrator of the north district from 1949 to 1952 .

Fischer was in the first electoral term from April 20, 1947 to April 30, 1951 and in the third electoral term from May 6, 1955 to May 5, 1959 member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .
