Johann Hartmann (office cellar)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Hartmann (* around 1550 in Sulzfeld am Main , † 1622 in Miltenberg ) was the official cellar in Miltenberg.

Life

Not much has been passed on about the life of Johann Hartmann. From 1571 to 1621 he worked in the Miltenberg office as a cellar (his predecessor was Hanns Karlau) and handed over his office to his son Johann Melchior a year before his death due to old age.

Johann Hartmann's coat of arms

In the meeting room of the town hall of Bürgstadt there is a coat of arms , as he was also responsible for Bürgstadt as the official of the Archbishopric Mainz .

Description of the coat of arms disc

In the background, the pane shows an architecture with windows above a brick base made of raised stones . In front of it a magnificently dressed angel holds the coat of arms of the cellar. A shield that is not heraldic is an indication of the non-aristocratic status of Johann Hartmann. In the golden shield field you can see a red heart with a golden M for (Kur-) Mainz on it. Above the heart are the initials JH des Keller. The Archangel Michael looks at a rectangular mirror that hangs in an arched window and is inscribed with the year 1593. The inscription reads: "Johann Hartmann Keller zu Miltenberg 1593".
