Johann Heinrich Kopstadt (* around 1691 in Essen ; † September 23, 1753 ibid) was a German Councilor , Lehnkanzlei-Director and Mayor of Essen.

Life

The Protestant Johann Heinrich Kopstadt was the son of 1682 from Rostock had moved Magister and preacher Johann Friedrich Kopstadt (1650-1717). His mother was Katharina Christine Elisabeth née Nedelmann (* 1657). In May 1712 he married Helene Katharina Krupp (* 1692; † July 8, 1730 in Essen) and had a daughter Katharina Helene (1717–1794) and a son Heinrich Arnold.

He was court advisor to Counts Falkenstein and Limburg-Stirum as well as fiefdom director.

In 1734 Kopstadt became mayor of the then small town of Essen and initially shared the office with Arnold Krupp. In the same year his official partner was Johann Georg Nedelmann. Both remained in office until 1750.

The Kopstadtplatz in Essen's city ​​center is reminiscent of the headquarters of the Kopstadt family, who provided two other mayors in Essen, his son
