Johann Korff called Schmising (* in the 15th century; † in the 16th century) was canon in Münster and cathedral dean in Osnabrück .

Life

Johann Korff called Schmising came from the Westphalian noble family Korff , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged. His exact ancestry has not been established. In 1517 he studied at the University of Cologne and in 1545 received a Dompräbende in Osnabrück. On November 3rd, 1547 it came into the possession of a cathedral priest from Münster . From 1558 to 1577, Johann was cathedral dean in Osnabrück. In this function he was responsible for the internal management of the cathedral chapter , while the provost was responsible for the external representation of the cathedral chapter. The sources do not provide any information about the further course of life.
