Johann Matthias Naumann († 1727) was a pupil of Arp Schnitger and organ builder in Hildesheim .

Life

Naumann came from Frankfurt am Main and learned organ building as a journeyman at Schnitger for at least four years. In 1697/1698, Naumann and Johann Hinrich Ulenkampf carried out Schnitger's renovations in the St. Bartholomew Church in Golzwarden. From 1700 to 1702 he worked as a journeyman at Schnitger's new organ in Clausthal-Zellerfeld , which he even passed on to others as his own work. From 1705 he was organist in St. Annen in Hildesheim. When Naumann died in 1727, his son Franz Wilhelm continued his father's profession and built an organ in Kolenfeld .
