Johann Mayrhofer (born March 29, 1949 ) is an Austrian handbiker .

Since a traffic accident in 1992, both sides of the lower leg amputated, Mayrhofer found himself involved in handbiking during rehabilitation. From 1995 he took part in races; on the first attempt in Wiener Neustadt it achieved a second place, a year later in the same place the first. Mayrhofer won the European Championships in Neuchatel , two gold medals at the World Championships in Altenstadt and one gold and one silver medal at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens . The Rhein-Energie-Marathon in Bonn in 2005 was curious. At the finish, Mayrhofer collided with the Dutchman John Reekers . Both handbikers fell. The Belgian Wim Decleir drove through between those who had fallen, and all three drivers showed the same result to within tenths of a second; Mayrhofer won here by a small margin. On the same day he contested another race in Kerschenbroich , where he ended up in fifth place.
