Johann Peter Ignaz Chorherr (born June 1, 1734 in Vienna ; † September 1, 1814 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician and second mayor of St. Pölten.

Life

Johann Peter Ignatz Chorherr was born in Vienna on June 1, 1734 as the son of the “bourgeois wood pusher” Peter Chorherr. The glazier came to St. Pölten as a journeyman , where his first marriage brought him home and business. From 1786 to 1809 he was Oberzechmeister or mayor of the St. Pölten glass guild.

As early as 1770 canon was elected to the external council, five years later to the internal council. After he was administrator of the citizen's hospital, he became city quartermaster and was thus responsible for the billeting of military personnel. From 1785 he was a magistrate responsible for auditing the city treasurer's accounts. Canon became mayor in autumn 1789 and resigned in January 1794 for reasons that had not yet been clarified. He died on September 1, 1814 in St. Pölten.
