Johann Philipp Lesch von Mühlheim (* around 1545; † February 2, 1601 ) was the Grand Bailli of the Order of St. John from 1598 to 1599. From 1599 to 1601 was the Grand Prior of Germany of the Order of St. John and Prince of Heitersheim .

Life and career

Johann Philipp Lesch von Mühlheim was born around 1545. The Lesch von Mühlheim family had their estates in the area of Wetzlar and Gießen; Mühlheim is today's Hermannstein , a district of Wetzlar . On November 13, 1565 he entered the Order of St. John in Malta and then probably performed the services required by the statutes in Malta. In 1568 he became the council of the German tongue at the highest council of the Order of St. John, the Concilium completum . At the same time he received his first Kommende Sulz (Soultz), which he kept until 1599. In 1570 he was given the Commendation of Colmar , which he also chaired until 1599. He received the Coming Villingen in 1576 and kept it until his death in 1601. Presumably he rarely visited his comers because he was elected deputy of the Großbailli on November 23, 1573, and on May 13, 1598 he became Großbailli himself. On May 10, 1589, he was named the first titular Bailli of Brandenburg by Grand Prior Philipp Flach von Schwarzenberg . On March 13, 1598 he was appointed Großbailli. On August 20, 1599, he moved to the office of Grand Prior of Germany. However, he did not move to Heitersheim, but performed his office from the Kommende Villingen. When he was elected Grand Prior, he had also become Commander of the Coming Bubikon . He died on February 2, 1601 in Villingen and was buried in the local Johanniterkirche .
