Johann Samuel Agner

Johann Samuel Agner (born October 9, 1701 in Merseburg , † October 21, 1769 in Zeitz ) was a Protestant clergyman and writer.

Life

Johann Samuel was born as the son of the Merseburg citizen and tailor Christian Agner and attended high school in his hometown. He then studied theology at the university from 1721 . After moving to the university, he successfully passed his master's degree there in 1724. In 1715 he found his first job as a choralist in Merseburg.

From 1728 to 1736 he worked in Heuckewalde , after which he moved to the Church of St. Viti in the suburb of Altenburg near Merseburg, where he worked as a pastor until January 1743. From here he followed the call as archdeacon at the St. Michaeliskirche in Zeitz . He held this office until 1750. From November 15, 1750 until his death he was pastor of the parish of St. Nicolai in Zeitz.

In addition to his pastor and archdeacon activities, he was active as a writer in the spiritual field.
