Johann Schmölz (politician)

Johann Schmölz (born June 13, 1931 in Vienna ; † February 21, 2013 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and ÖBB official. Schmölz was 1976-1986 member of the Bundesrat and 1986-1989 Member of the National Council .

After attending compulsory school, Schmölz learned the trade of machine fitter and was an employee of the ÖBB, where he worked as a superstructure worker, warehouse worker, machine fitter, as well as in IT and as an administrative officer. From 1970 Schmölz was Central Secretary of the Railway Workers Union, from 1975 Vice President of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna and from 1999 Vice President of the Federal Seniors' Council at the Federal Ministry for Social Security and Generations. He represented the SPÖ from September 27, 1976 to March 30, 1986 in the Federal Council and from March 31, 1986 to September 26, 1989 in the National Council.
