Johann Schweffel IV.
Johann Schweffel IV. (* May 12, 1825 in Kiel ; † August 23, 1910 there ) was a German merchant.

Johann Schweffel IV. Was a member of an important family of Kiel merchants. As one of ten children of Johann Schweffel III. he completed "with great success" in 1847 a degree that had begun three years earlier at the Polytechnic School in Hanover . For many years he worked with his father in the family business. With August Ferdinand Howaldt , he headed the business of the Schweffel & Howaldt company from 1854 . On December 30, 1879, he resigned from the management and devoted himself to other things. From 1898 he lived as a withdrawn pensioner.
Johann Schweffel IV. Was a member of the Kiel city council, since 1864 a deputy citizen and served for several years as deputy head of the city council. He married Christine Bertha Franziska Winter (* July 12, 1831 - March 22, 1916) in Lüneburg on September 21, 1855 . The couple had four daughters. The importance of the Schweffel family in Kiel ended with the death of Johann Schweffel IV in August 1910.
