Johann Wilhelm auf der Heyden (* August 1661 in Elberfeld (today: district of Wuppertal ), † December 1746 there ) was Mayor of Elberfeld.

Johann Wilhelm auf der Heyden was born as the son of Johannes auf der Heyden (1629–1692), the mayor from 1678 and his wife Mechthild Teschemacher, daughter of Anton Teschemacher, mayor from 1629. After the death of his wife's parents, Johannes auf der Heyden bought the farm on the Hökel from his co-heirs for 2,390 Reichstalers. In 1688 Johann Wilhelm married Anna Elisabeth Siebel (1670–1729), the youngest daughter of the mayor Andreas Siebel (1619–1684). He had five children with her, two of whom died early. The youngest child was Johann Jakob auf der Heyden , who became mayor in 1746 and 1753.

Like his father, Johann Wilhelm auf der Heyden was a businessman in Elberfeld. He was first proposed for the office of mayor in 1695, but has not yet been successful. The following year he became a council member and in 1701 he was again proposed to mayor, but again unsuccessfully. After he was a council member again in 1703, he was elected mayor the following year. Consequently, he was then city judge in 1705. In 1705 and 1706 he was also a council member again. From January 9, 1709 until January 23, 1741 he was a lay judge at the city court for 32 years. During this time he was again in the city council in 1719 and 1739 and again mayor in 1727. 1728 consequently also city judges a second time.
