Johann Jakob auf der Heyden (* November 1705 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ); † September 1768 there ) was Mayor of Elberfeld.

Johann Jakob auf der Heyden was born as the son of the mayor in 1704 and 1727 Johann Wilhelm auf der Heyden (1661–1746) and his wife Anna Elisabeth Siebel (1670–1729). His two grandfathers were also mayors, his father's side, Johannes auf der Heyden, in 1678 and his mother's Andreas Siebel (1619–1684) even four times (1654, 1655, 1660, 1665). His father of the same name, Andreas Siebel († 1648), was mayor in 1634.

Johann Jakob auf der Heyden married Katharina Gertrud Wuppermann (1718–1741) from Elberfeld on October 10, 1736, with whom he had two children. The older and only surviving child, Katharina Gertrud auf der Heyden, married the future mayor Johannes Plücker (1733–1796). His great-grandson Julius Plücker was a professor of mathematics and physics and his great-great-grandson Albert Plücker was a professor of medicine and a surgeon. After the early death of his wife, Johann Jakob auf der Heyden married a second time on February 17, 1743. This time he married Maria Magdalena Meinhard (1721–1786) from Siegen, a granddaughter of the Elberfeld mayor from 1721, Gerhard Werner Teschemacher (1666–1740). He had six more children with her, but three of them died as children. One of his two daughters, Anna Elisabeth auf der Heyden (1753–1792) married the future mayor Jakob Lüttringhausen .

Johann Jakob auf der Heyden was a merchant in Elberfeld and became a common man in the city in 1740. From 1741 to 1744, the year in which he was unsuccessfully proposed for the office of mayor for the first time, he was on the council of the city of Elberfeld. In 1746 he was proposed for the second time and also elected mayor. The following year he was city ​​judge and then he was again from 1748 to 1752 in the city council. Immediately afterwards he was proposed a third time as mayor and elected for the second time. Afterwards he was again city judge of the city of Elberfeld in 1753, on whose council he was again after his tenure as city judge from 1755 to 1758. After leaving the company, he retired from his 18 years of employment for the city of Elberfeld.
