Abraham Siebel

Abraham Siebel (born September 20, 1707 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ); † January 28, 1777 there ) was mayor of Elberfeld.

Siebel was born as the son of the merchant and mayor of 1716 Anton Siebel (1670-1721) and his wife Anna Margareta von Carnap (1671-1736) and was baptized on September 28, 1707. He married Maria Elisabeth Teschemacher (1703–1768), with whom he had four children.

Siebel was proposed for the first time as mayor in 1744 and was also elected to this office. A year later he became a city ​​judge and in 1747 a council member for the first time. He was also elected to the council in 1747, 1751, 1753 and 1754. In 1754 he was proposed again for mayor, but, unlike in the following year, was not elected to office. He was not elected for the second time until 1755, and in 1756 he was again city judge. Even after that he was on the city council from 1757 to 1759 and 1763. Ten years after his last term as mayor, he was elected a third time in 1765 and was again city judge in 1766. After that he was still on the city council from 1767 to 1769 and 1771.
