Jakob Lüttringhausen (* July 21, 1745 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ); † July 17, 1816 there ) was Mayor of Elberfeld.

Life

Lüttringhausen was born as the son of businessman and councilor Johannes Lüttringhausen (1695–1781) and his wife Anna Helena Katharina Wuppermann (1706–1749). He himself began as a merchant in Elberfeld on the vicarage. In 1775 he married Anna Elisabeth auf der Heyden (1753–1792), the daughter of Elberfeld's mayor Johann Jakob auf der Heyden , and had eight children with her. After her death, he married a second time. With Johanna Magdalena Pütter (1755-1824) he had a son.

Lüttringhausen was proposed as mayor in 1787 and 1789, but could not prevail. It was not until 1791 that he was finally elected mayor. The following year he became a city judge and in 1793 he became a councilor. From 1814 until his death he was a member of the city council.
