Johannes Plücker (born June 6, 1733 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ); † April 3, 1796 there ) was a German businessman , politician and mayor of Elberfeld .

Life

Johannes Plücker was a member of the council in Kipdorf zu Elberfeld from 1769 to 1771, as well as from 1776, 1779 and 1783 . He was proposed mayor in 1763, 1765, 1769, 1770, 1771 and 1773, and then elected to that office in 1774 and 1781. In 1775 and 1782 he was city ​​judge .

Johannes Plücker married on June 9, 1761 in Gräfrath Katharina Gertrud auf der Heyden (1737-1809), the daughter of Elberfeld's mayor Johann Jakob auf der Heyden , with whom he fathered a son and a daughter. His grandson Julius Plücker was a professor of mathematics and physics, and his great-grandson Albert Plücker was a professor of medicine and a surgeon.

After 1784, Johannes Plücker acquired Lüntenbeck Castle , located in front of the gates of Elberfeld in the Duchy of Berg , from Baron von (dem) Bottlenberg . After the death of Johannes Plücker, Lüntenbeck Castle became the property of his son-in-law, the Royal Prussian Consistorial and Government Councilor Karl Ludwig Pithan.
