Johann Wilhelm von Gymnich
Johann Wilhelm von Gymnich († October 28, 1682 ) was a German baron , cathedral capitular in Mainz and Trier , and archdeacon of St. Lubentius (Dietkirchen) .
Origin and family
He was born as the son of Johann Otto von Gymnich , Mr. zu Vischel , Neurath and Wald, Kurtrier councilor and bailiff of Münstereifel and his wife Amalia Kratz von Scharfenstein . The latter was the daughter of the officer Johann Philipp Cratz von Scharffenstein , who was executed for high treason in 1635, and the niece of Worms Bishop Hugo Eberhard Cratz von Scharfenstein .
Life
Johann Wilhelm von Gymnich served as titular pastor of Altenahr from 1656 until his death , and in 1663 he was ordained a subdeacon . Gymnich became canon or cathedral capitular in Mainz and Trier, the latter prebend he took over as early as 1648. In addition, from 1680, as archdeacon in Dietkirchen , the right bank of the Archdiocese of Trier was subordinate to him .
The baron died on October 28, 1682 and was buried in the Trier Liebfrauenkirche , next to the cathedral , where his high-quality coat of arms epitaph has been preserved.
