Johann Wimberg

Johann Wimberg (born September 26, 1969 in Friesoythe ) is a German politician ( CDU ), district administrator of the district of Cloppenburg . From 1996 to 2014 he was mayor of the city of Friesoythe.

Wimberg completed an apprenticeship as a savings bank clerk. Since 1991 he has been a member of the city council of his hometown. At the age of just 26, he was elected honorary mayor in 1996 and the first full-time mayor in 1998, and has been confirmed since then. Wimberg is an assessor in the CDU state association in Oldenburg and on the state board of the CDU in Lower Saxony .

On May 25, 2014, he prevailed against two opposing candidates in the election for the district administrator of the district of Cloppenburg and was elected with 70.16% of the vote. He took office on November 1, 2014, succeeding Hans Eveslage .
