Johann von Rietberg

Johann Graf von Rietberg (* in the 15th century; † 1530 ) was canon in Münster and Cologne .

Life

Origin and family

Johann von Rietberg was born as the son of Count Johann von Rietberg and his wife Margarethe zur Lippe . He had eight siblings:

  • Otto († December 18, 1535), Count from 1516 to 1535
  • Bernhard († October 15, 1501), Canon in Osnabrück and Cologne
  • Konrad († 1500), canon in Cologne
  • Simon, mentioned 1486–1494

His uncle Konrad was bishop of Osnabrück and Münster .

Act

In 1508, at the request of Emperor Maximilian I , Johann received a cathedral priest in Münster . He remained in possession of the benefice until his death. Like his brothers Bernhard, Konrad and Friedrich, Johann was a canon in Cologne.
