Johanna van Hasselt-Barth

Johanna van Hasselt-Barth or Johanna von Hasselt-Barth ( February 23, 1841 in Vienna - February 8, 1918 in Berlin ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

The daughter of Anna Maria Wilhelmine van Hasselt-Barth and Gustav Barth began her stage work in 1861 (or 1866/1867 in St. Gallen) and ended it in 1885. She worked both as an opera soubrette, coloratura singer and as a lively lover and achieved in her engagements Augsburg, Würzburg, Mainz, Strasbourg, Breslau, at the court theaters in Hanover, Coburg (1870 to 1872), Karlsruhe, Königsberg (1884 to 1885) etc. great applause as "Ännchen", "Zerline", "Rosine", "Dinorah" , “Susanne” etc. as as “Picarde”, “Madeleine” in “Urbild des Tartüffe”, “Franziska” in Minna von Barnhelm , “Puck” etc. Withdrawn from the stage, she settled in Berlin, where she was named successful singing teacher.
