The Johannes Nepomuk statue by the bridge on Eggenburger Gasse in Pulkau in Lower Austria is a listed building . It is one of numerous depictions by Johannes Nepomuk in the Hollabrunn district of Lower Austria .

history

The Johannes Nepomuk statue was donated in 1738. Originally it was together with a Marian column donated in 1695 on the first stone bridge leading over the Pulkau , which had to be rebuilt after the destruction caused by a flood. After another flood in 1832, the bridge also had to be repaired. On this occasion, the statue of Johannes Nepomuk was transferred to the right bank of the Pulkau and the Marian column to the bridge square near the Pulkaubrücke downstream.

description

The stone-made figure of Johannes Nepomuk is on a low plinth with a tendril cartouche presented by putti with an inscription that is barely legible. Another inscription on the back names the two donors.

Johannes Nepomuk himself is depicted as a priest and wears the biretta on his head. In his left hand he is holding a cross, the right one is on his chest. The head is turned towards the sky.
