Johannes Blömer
Johannes Blömer (* 1964 ) is a German mathematician and computer scientist . He currently teaches at the University of Paderborn . He deals with coding theory and cryptography .
He studied mathematics, philosophy and history at the Free University of Berlin and received his doctorate there in 1993 , the title of his dissertation was Simplifying expressions involving radicals . He then worked at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley and at the ETH Zurich .
In 1997/1998 he was a substitute professor at the Goethe University in Frankfurt . In 2000 he accepted a position at the University of Paderborn. In 2009 he turned down an offer at the University of Stuttgart .
Since April 1, 2018, Blömer has been Vice President for Research and Young Scientists at the University of Paderborn. The term of office is six years.
In Paderborn, Blömer is a member of the Paderborn Institute for Scientific Computation (PaSCo), its graduate college, the Paderborn Institute for Advanced Studies in Computer Science and Engineering (PACE) and the Paderborn Institute for Industrial Mathematics (IFIM).
He is also in the Gesellschaft für Informatik and in the Association for Computing Machinery . He works as a scientific reviewer, for example for the German Research Foundation , the National Science Foundation and the Swiss National Fund for the Advancement of Science .
Blömer is the recipient of the 2003 Weierstraß Prize for excellent teaching in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Paderborn.
