Johannes Christoph Fehling

Johannes Christoph Fehling (born August 7, 1800 in Lübeck ; † October 17, 1882 there ) was a German businessman and parliamentarian.

Life

Johannes Christoph Fehling was the son of the brewer, businessman and later customs officer Hermann Christian Fehling (1767–1836) in Lübeck. The chemist Hermann Fehling was one of his two younger brothers.

Fehling was a businessman and underwriter in Lübeck. He was a member of the constituent Lübeck citizenship in 1848/1849 and the first elected citizenship in 1848/50 .

He was married to Anna Emilie Oppenheimer (born August 8, 1803 in Hamburg; † June 5, 1885 in Lübeck), daughter of the banker Jacob Amschel Oppenheimer (1778–1845), partner in the Heckscher & Co. bank . The marriage had eleven children forth; the eldest daughter Adele married the future mayor of Lübeck Heinrich Theodor Behn , the second-born eldest son Johannes Fehling became a senator in Lübeck, Hermann Wilhelm Fehling became a businessman in Lübeck, Emil Ferdinand Fehling became a senator and Lübeck mayor and Maria Elisabeth (1838–1886) married Ludwig Theodor Gütschow (1832–1908) and became the mother of Margarethe Gütschow .
