Johannes Friedrich Werling is a Catholic theologian and former priest .

Life

Werling was a professor at the KH Mainz . He was ordained a priest in Rome at the age of 27. With an investigation into the ideological foundations of the reunion efforts of Leibniz in correspondence with Bossuet and Pellisson , he received his doctorate in 1976 at the Gregoriana in Rome under Peter Henrici . The work appeared under the name of Hans Friedrich Werling . Together with church historian Josef Meller, he published a history of the Speyer diocese in 1987 . For the Handbuch der Ökumenik he wrote an essay on efforts for Christian unity in modern times . In 2011 his work Ernst Havenstein was published. Stations of an artist's life.

After his marriage he was suspended from the priesthood. He lives in Traben-Trarbach, is a househusband and has eight children.

As a brotherhood councilor for medieval Moselle cultural assets, Werling is a member of the Presidium of the Moselle-Saar-Ruwer Wine Brotherhood and is chairman of the Friends' Association of the House of Icons in Traben-Trarbach. From 2015 to 2017 friends in the Austrian municipality of Neustift built a chapel for him. In 2017, the SWR report Vom Gottesdiener zum Göttergatten was broadcast about him .
