Peter Henrici (theologian)

Peter Henrici SJ (born March 31, 1928 in Zurich ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and auxiliary bishop emeritus of Chur .

Life

Peter Henrici entered the Jesuit order in 1947 and was ordained a priest in 1958 after studying Classical Philology and Indo-European Studies at the University of Zurich as well as further philosophical and theological studies at various universities in Rome, Munich and Leuven . In 1965 he took the solemn religious vows with the special vow of papal obedience.

From 1960 to 1993, Henrici was Professor of Modern Philosophy History at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and, from 1993, a visiting professor at the Theological College in Chur , which appointed him honorary professor in 2008.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 4, 1993 auxiliary bishop in Chur and titular bishop of Absorus . The episcopal ordination donated him to the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops , Bernardin Gantin , on May 31 the same year. Co- consecrators were the bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg , Pierre Mamie , and the bishop of Chur, Wolfgang Haas , who also appointed him episcopal vicar of the diocese of Chur.

On February 5, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. His age-appropriate resignation from his office as auxiliary bishop.
