The International Catholic Journal Communio (IKaZ) is a journal for Catholic theology that was founded in 1972 by Hans Urs von Balthasar , Joseph Ratzinger , Karl Lehmann, as well as Franz Greiner , Otto B. Roegele , Albert Görres and Hans Maier .

The magazine, which is now published in seventeen languages ​​(including German, English, Spanish), is one of the most important Catholic theological magazines.

The editor of the German edition has been Jan-Heiner Tück since 2007 , who has been professor of dogmatic theology at the University of Vienna since 2010. The editorial board consists of Andreas Bieringer, Michael Gassmann , Julia Knop, Erich Kock and Holger Zaborowski. It has been supported by the Association of Friends and Patrons of Communio eV since the magazine was founded .

Communio is to be distinguished from the magazine Concilium , which was founded in 1965 by Yves Congar , Hans Küng , Johann Baptist Metz , Karl Rahner and Edward Schillebeeckx .
