Hardy Mertens

Hardy Mertens (born February 20, 1960 in Nieuwenhagen ), full name: Hendrick Anna Christiaan Hardy Mertens , is a contemporary Dutch composer .

Mertens completed a degree in musicology at the University of Utrecht , and graduated with a problem analysis for the Dutch wind orchestra. He then studied wind orchestra direction with Gerrit Fokkema and composition with Hans Kox at the Utrecht Conservatory . Very early on, he created a number of compositions for wind orchestra and received commissions from various institutions, such as B. SONMO, the Tonkünstler Fund and the regional brass music association of the Province of Limburg. In addition, he was engaged as a conductor of various wind orchestras. He followed invitations to Singapore and Japan, where he was a successful promoter of authentic Dutch wind works, not least his own compositions.
