John III (Jerusalem)
John III († April 20, 524 ) was an Orthodox bishop and Patriarch of Jerusalem from 516 until his death .
Life
John was the son of a bishop of Sebaste in Samaria named Marcian . He is said to have been a student of the monk's father Sabas .
As a patriarch, he put all opponents of the Council of Chalcedon with the anathema . During his episcopate, the Akakian schism was ended.
