Johannes Kellinghaus (born August 3, 1881 in Hamborn ; † March 15, 1956 there ) was the first mayor of the city ​​of Osterfeld .

Life

After graduating from high school in Recklinghausen , Johannes Kellinghaus studied law in Marburg , Berlin and Münster . The first state legal examination followed on September 29, 1906 in Hamm. After completing military service as a one-year volunteer with the 22nd Field Artillery Regiment in Münster, he passed the second state law examination in Berlin in April 1912. After a brief employment as a court assessor in Kleve, Kellinghaus settled as a lawyer in Oberhausen on June 1, 1912. In the First World War he served from August 1914 to the end of the war in November 1918 with the Field Artillery Regiment 95. After discharge from army service and brief activity as a lawyer, he came to the Osterfeld office in May 1919 as an administrative candidate. From September 1919 to September 1, 1920, he was a salaried alderman there, after which he became a councilor at the Essen tax office. On August 31, 1921, he was elected First Mayor of the city of Osterfeld. After confirmation by the Prussian State Ministry, he received the approval to use the title of Lord Mayor . The Belgian occupation authorities expelled him in the spring of 1923; It was not until the end of the year that he resumed his usual duties. In 1929 the towns of Osterfeld, Sterkrade and Oberhausen were merged to form the new town of Oberhausen, whereupon Kellinghaus had to be taken over as a civil servant , but had no function. On January 31, 1934, he retired.

Kellinghaus was a member of the German Center Party .
