Johannes Müller (born July 23, 1893 in Berlin ; † August 31, 1969 there ) was a German composer, operetta tenor and actor.

Life

Johannes Müller studied at Max Reinhardt's drama school at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . From 1911 to 1914 he worked as an actor at the Gera Theater. During the First World War he returned to Berlin and worked there as an operetta tenor at various theaters. He sang the role of "Franz Schubert" at the Berlin premiere of the Singspiel Das Dreimäderlhaus by Heinrich Berté and the title role of the operetta Der Vetter aus Dingsda by Eduard Künneke at its world premiere. In addition to his work as a composer, Johannes Müller also worked as a conductor.

Works

Johannes Müller created the music for several stage works:

  • Hans and Hanna. Musical comedy in three acts . Libretto: Herbert Grube.
  • The girls from Biberach. Singspiel (operetta) in three acts . Libretto: Julius Brandt .
  • Music and love. Operetta in three acts . Libretto: Max Eduard Fischer.
  • The great margrave. Operetta in three acts . Libretto: Oskar Felix.
  • Two happy people. Operetta in three acts . Libretto: Anne-Liese Schmolz

He also composed the soundtrack for the films A Woman Comes to the Tropics (1938) and The Voice from the Aether (1939), which were directed by Harald Paulsen , and for the anti-Semitic propaganda film The Rothschilds (1940).
