Johannes Rauch (born April 24, 1959 in Rankweil ) is an Austrian politician who works for the Greens in Vorarlberg . Rauch has been a member of the state government since 2014 and, as the state council, is responsible for environmental protection and local transport.

Life

Before starting his political career, Johannes Rauch worked as a banker for four years and worked in youth work for another four years. He is a qualified social worker with twelve years of professional experience in the areas of social psychiatry, unemployment care and debt counseling.

From 2000 until he joined the government, Rauch was a member of the Greens in the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 2004 was a club chairman . Rauch is a co-founder of the Rankweil Green Forum. From 1990 to 1996 he held the mandate of an environmental council in Rankweil. From 1997 to the beginning of 2004 he was managing director of the employment initiative for the Feldkirch district (ABF).

After the state elections in 2014 , in which the Greens were able to gain significantly, the party agreed with the Vorarlberg People's Party to form the first black-green coalition in Vorarlberg. Johannes Rauch was elected as one of two state councilors of the Greens by the state parliament on October 15, 2014 in the Vorarlberg state government . There he is responsible for the areas of environment and climate protection, adaptation to climate change, energy, public transport and cycle paths, railway infrastructure, cycle infrastructure, waste management, IT, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.

Since 1995 he has been a member of the regional executive committee of the party Die Grünen Vorarlberg and since 1997 its executive committee spokesman.

Private

Rauch lives in Dornbirn and is the father of two daughters.
