Johannes Ritzkowsky
Johannes Ritzkowsky (born June 24, 1946 in Eschwege ) is a German horn player and lecturer at a music college.
After graduating from high school, Ritzkowsky studied Horn at the music academies in Darmstadt and Essen . In 1967 he got a position as horn player at the Landestheater in Darmstadt and in 1969 he was appointed solo horn player at the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra . Since 1979 he has been principal horn in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra .
In addition to his orchestral work, Ritzkowsky also works as a teacher, from 1973 to 1980 at the Stuttgart University of Music . Since 1988 he has been teaching horn at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich , which has been part of the Munich University of Music and Theater since 2008.
Ritzkowsky has also given numerous master classes in Germany, France, Hungary, Israel, Japan and America. He has performed internationally as a soloist, among others with the conductors Sergiu Celibidache , Colin Davis , Lorin Maazel and Wolfgang Sawallisch .
