Johannes Straube

Johannes Straube (* 1843 ; † 1906 ) was a German harmonium maker and organist in Berlin .

Life

The father JCF Straube was a violin maker. Johann Straube founded a repair workshop for musical instruments in 1869 and began building harmoniums around 1873/74. In the years 1877 and 1890 the workshop was located at Wilhelmstraße 29 in Berlin-Mitte, in 1886 it was called the Hof Harmonium Factory . In the 1890s she also built tuned harmoniums. In 1903 Johannes Straube was referred to as the court instrument maker, Karl Straube, probably his son, was named as the co-owner, and the workshop was located at Schöneberger Straße 27 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

Johannes Straube was organist at the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche in Berlin-Kreuzberg for many years (after 1888?).

After his death, the harmonium building company was taken over by Johann Pappe and continued under the name Straube & Co. , since 1919 in Lich in Hesse. In 1923 it was taken over by Förster & Nicolaus .

Johann Straube was married to Sarah Palmer from the English country nobility. Sons were the painter William Straube (1871–1954) and the Thomaskantor Karl Straube (1873–1950).
