John VI Helix
John VI Wendel was abbot of the Waldsassen monastery from 1433 to 1461.
John VI Wendel from Weiden was abbot of the Waldsassen monastery at the time of the Hussite Wars . In the first year of his term in office, the Hussites had long feared attacks . Hussite leader Jakoubek von Vřesovice plundered the monastery extensively, apparently not injuring people. Nevertheless, the monastery recovered quickly, not least because of its sponsors. The humble beginnings of the Waldsassen Abbey Library go back to the year 1433 . John VI and his successor Nikolaus IV. Peisser contributed significantly to the territorial rounding off of the monastery property , with which the designation as Stiftland became eponymous. He resigned in 1461 and died two years later.
