from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Father Johannes Walther ( Brothers of the Order of the Holy Spirit ) (* before 1390; † May 23, 1394 in Rome ) was the hospital master of the Kreuzherrenkloster in Memmingen in Upper Swabia from 1390 to 1394 .

Father Johannes Walther, who comes from the Kreuzherrenkloster in Memmingen, was elected hospital master by his confreres in 1390 and introduced by hospital master Peter Förster from the Heiliggeistspital Stephansfeld . In the first year of his tenure he got into an argument with a hospital nurse, who was also known as the “yellow court master”, and fought with him. Johannes Walther suffered serious injuries in the fight, from which he however recovered. By decree of Pope Boniface IX. From November 25, 1389, the hospital brothers were allowed, like the Antonites , to equip animals with bells and raise them in the parishes. The Memminger Antoniter took action against it. For this reason, the hospital master Walther was sent to Rome by his order to present this dispute with the Pope. Before he could put forward his request, Johannes Walther died on May 23, 1394 in Rome.
